Tickets are now on sale for Bane 1, 2 & 3 in Perth and for Bane 1 in Adelaide. It will be Bane’s first appearance in Australia and performers Joe Bone and Ben Roe are psyched about the prospect of bringing Bane down under.
An extract from Australia’s The West newspaper (below), adds further details to Perth’s burgeoning arts reputation, and increases the excitement of what promises to be a great series of events.
“Perth’s 2013 Fringe World will kick off with an Australia Day long weekend opening party in and around two Speigeltents and many other pop-up venues in the Perth Cultural Centre.
Already 50 per cent bigger than the 2012 Fringe, the 2013 festival will spread beyond the city for the first time with several satellite shows in the regional centres of Albany, Geraldton and Esperance thanks to some extra State funding.
The theatre, comedy, cabaret, burlesque, music and other highlights across 50 venues range from the outrageous to the family-friendly and include the Wau Wau Sisters, Barry Morgan, Trixie and Monkey, Friskie and Mannish, Joe Bone’s Bane trilogy and the Lunar Circus Kids Comedy Gala.
“Fringe is coming back bigger, better, bolder and brassier than ever,” Fringe World director Marcus Canning said.
The festival runs until February 24, with the final twAdelo weeks coinciding with the Perth International Arts Festival.”
Billdog actor Gustavo Rodrigues has been nominated for Best Actor at the FITA festival, and musician Marcio Tinoco was given the nod for Best Musical Adaptation. The momentum is growing with Billdog (Bane 1) in Brazil and plans are underway for the adaptation of Bane 2 & 3 in 2013 / 14. It was at the FITA festival in early December that Bane 2 & 3 were performed alongside the Brazilian Billdog, in Angra, to rapturous a reception. Having teamed up for the one off series of shows, both performance teams soaked up the unique atmosphere of this wonderful event and hope to make a return next year. Results announced next week.
“Joe Bone’s performance is phenomenal... The real joy comes from the craftsmanship Bone has put in - there are some dizzying elaborate set pieces here... extremely funny”
British Theatre Guide
“In a brilliant parody of the film noir style, Joe Bone has manufactured a brilliantly funny show where he plays a plethora of varying roles in this dark and inverted story... accompanied to great effect by a constant live soundtrack from Ben Roe”
